Trees and Taco Bell
My throat hurts! A lot. I think I might need to get my tonsils out. Have any of you ever gotten your tonsils out? The tour is over right now and I've been back home putting a lot of miles on my studio. I really am happy with the way things have come together in there. The equipment is making me happy, and I must say, the decor is just right, haha. I think the poster of Blondie makes it all possible in there.
So I'm really excited for the new Holiday EP coming out. I was able to work with some amazing new instruments, like a Tuba and Penny Whistle to, really get that Holiday feel. I'm really interested to see what you all think about it. So let me know! On Friday I put up my Christmas tree. I got one that was way too big - 11 ft too big to be exact. But after creating a system of levers and pulleys to help it stand up straight, I think it's looking pretty good. I hung a small pumpkin on the tree as an ornament. I'm not exactly sure why. I wanted to do something funny like hang easter eggs or some totally other random holiday. So I went with a pumpkin. It's doing the job.
That night I also went to the local dollar store and bought some lights for the tree, and some cool colored light bulbs for my studio. Why is it that it always seems like a good idea to shop at a dollar store? Then you get home and everything breaks and you remember why it costs a dollar. After breaking off three colored bulbs in a row in my studio light sockets,
I figured it would be a good idea to just accept defeat, and go buy some proper lights from a hardware store.
Being back home is great, but it's weird to be so stationary. Since my home (bus) was on wheels for so long, if I wanted to get something - like food - it was only just a little while down the road. For example, I felt like some Taco Bell this morning when I woke up. Usually when I felt like Taco Bell, I could just wait a few minutes and we'd pass one. When I wake up in my bed, the chances of passing a Taco Bell is 0%. That is a harsh fact of being back home. But I guess a good fact of being back home is that I can eat my mom's good cooking and not Taco Bell, so I guess it all evens out.
I can't wait for you all to check out the new EP! Until then, I'll talk to you soon!
